When insulating your attic, the material you choose is crucial for energy efficiency and comfort. Fiberglass is a traditional option made of tiny glass fibers that are cost-effective and easy to install as batts or rolls. It fits well in standard spacing areas, is durable, mold-resistant, and doesn't absorb moisture. Cellulose is another eco-friendly choice made from recycled paper with fire-retardant properties. It fills gaps effectively, reduces airflow, and is dense to prevent heat loss efficiently, making it ideal for improving energy efficiency. While spray foam has unique benefits like superior air sealing and moisture resistance, fiberglass and cellulose insulation are also worth considering for your attic.

Additional Attic Insulation Information
Blown-In Attic Insulation
Blown-in attic insulation continues to gain popularity annually due to numerous benefits it offers compared to traditional fiberglass batts or rolls. This type of insulation can be quickly and easily installed in most homes, making it particularly suitable for older houses where attic insulation can be introduced with minimal hassle. Our company offers two variations of blown-in insulation: fiberglass and cellulose.
Blown-In Attic Insulation Options
Blown-in fiberglass insulation is manufactured by spinning molten glass into fibers, typically containing 20%β30% recycled glass. On the other hand, blown-in cellulose insulation consists of up to 85% recycled newsprint with the remaining portion usually comprising a blend of fire-retardant chemicals like ammonium sulfate and borate. These chemicals serve the dual purpose of fireproofing the insulation and repelling pests, including insects, rodents, and mold. The loose nature of blown-in insulation allows it to conform to various shapes, making it well-suited for insulating challenging spaces such as vaulted ceilings.Bag Count Guarantee
According to Federal law and industry standards, loose-filled insulation tends to settle post-installation. Blown-in fiberglass and cellulose are sold based on their installed and settled density. The product coverage chart includes the bag count and material weight, offering precise details on the necessary material quantity for achieving the specified R-Value. At Ballards Insulation, we ensure the accurate bag count through UPC codes corresponding to the required number of bags for installation.
SPRAY FOAM ATTIC INSULATION
Spray foam insulation serves as an effective air seal when utilized in attics. At our company, we apply Icynene spray foam insulation available in open and closed-cell types. When insulating your attic with spray foam, you can opt to spray foam on the roof deck or within the attic flat. Both methods are viable, and our knowledgeable sales team will guide you on the most suitable approach for your project.
