About Fiberglass Insulation

Fiberglass insulation is made up of glass fibers and is distinguished by its high recycled content, with some products containing up to 85% recycled glass. These fibers are spun to create a dense insulation material that enhances air sealing properties. Moreover, during the manufacturing process, non-toxic additives and minerals are incorporated to act as a flame retardant and to offer defense against pests and mold. Fiberglass Insulation comes in two main forms - batts (or rolls) and loose-fill. Fiberglass batts come in a variety of sizes and r-values. Fiberglass loose-fill insulation is commonly blown into attic spaces, but can also be blown into wall cavities with a porous mesh netting to densely fill the wall cavity in a process known as BIBS (Blown-In Blanket System).
